Our Story: The Why Behind DMP Destiny NFP

At DMP Destiny NFP, our mission is rooted in lived experience and unwavering compassion. Several years ago, I found myself facing a devastating chapter in my life—I lost my home due to foreclosure. As a mother of four adopted children, the fear, uncertainty, and emotional weight were overwhelming. I fell into a deep depression, unsure of how I would provide for my family or rebuild what we had lost. But through the help of a supportive program, I was able to rise again. The experience of displacement, hopelessness, and perseverance laid the groundwork for my current work. I understand firsthand the pain of losing everything, and I also understand the power of having someone believe in you during your darkest moment. That is why I created DMP Destiny NFP. Named in memory of my beloved son, Deontae Marquise Patterson, this organization is not only a tribute to his life but also a reflection of my heart’s commitment to helping others rewrite their stories. We are here to serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness, offering not only essential resources but also guidance, healing, and the belief that no one’s current situation has to be their final destination. At DMP Destiny, we believe everyone deserves the chance to reclaim their independence, restore their dignity, and rediscover their destiny.
